These two girls are so amazing at just 6 and 8 years old already children book authors! Such an inspiring interview! They are a team of sisters that work together and still like each other! LOL.
Dr. Kimberely Harris is a teacher for gifted children k-5. In her 16 years as an educator, She has worked on and with several teams to develop and implement interventions to help to bridge the gap between male and female students and White and Black boys. Her passion for reading and helping boys learn to love reading is evident in this interview.
Gabriela has know what it's like to be bullied and made fun of. Her mission with her book is to educate kids on how that is not okay to bully or make fun of anyone. Her bearded dragon Athena is missing her back limbs and still goes on an adventure to find someone who will adopt her. This story is such a good lesson for kids now a days with bullying ever on the rise. She writes from her own experiences growing up with cerebral palsy and getting made fun of. A definite must in classrooms!
Judith grew up in Haiti where having a book all your own is a scarcity. she is determined to help fix that for Haitian children. Her book " Meet the Three Princesses," is about the Haitian strong family culture. She donated over 500 books for children in Haiti and will not stop there. Such an inspiring story, you've gotta check out.
Nonku is such a sweet, beautiful mom who has a heart of gold! Even though her own life was tough growing up she has channeled that into creating such a wonderful book. That encourages us to love all of our voices, skin tones, and cultures! A must-read for any kindergarten room! Check out our chat!
